E1. Episode 1

Wei Yingluo enters the Forbidden Palace as a maid to investigate her sister's death. The Emperor oversees the Hall Selection of new concubines and sends a reminder to the Harem on their conduct.

Yingluo’s attitude and abilities create tension in the Embroidery Workshop. Noble Consort Gao's involvement in Lady Yu's health leads to a confrontation, as the Empress continues to struggle with her management of the Harem. Yingluo encounters the Emperor for the first time.

Yingluo’s initial investigations into her sister's demise attract the attention of Momo Fang, and Yingluo is forced to improvise. Head Chamberlain Li Yu mounts a search for her after the tense encounter with the Emperor.

E4. Episode 4

Guard Fucha Fuheng attempts to rouse his sister the Empress from her long-held grief. Noble Consort Gao and Consort Jia continue their scheming, leading to Yingluo being summoned.

The Emperor muses over his apparent rejection by one of his Consorts, while simultaneously spurning another close to him. The Embroidery Workshop is thrown into disarray when plans for the Empress’ birthday present go awry.
